2 |           She taught locally for a few years before making a career jump from Primary teaching to Early Childhood Education. After only a few months in ECE she knew she had made the right choice and the vision to create a homely, nature-rich and local childcare option was born. She headed back to Uni to make her dream a reality and left with a Graduate Diploma in Early Childhood Education.

3 |           Mike and Liane met. It was time for Liane to pack her bags to join Mike in Auckland. She joined a team at a high quality ECE centre and continued to learn and refine her knowledge about leadership, how children learn and her teaching practice. She was even surer continuing her journey to create a local centre was the right path for her.

4 |           Mike proposed and the wedding planning started, but soon after they’d purchased the dress and booked everything…surprise; they found out Liane was pregnant with Samuel! They couldn’t think of a better place to raise their son than at home surrounded by family so they packed their bags and moved home to Matata.

5 |         Samuel was born and when he was just 7 months old they married – yes, it was a busy year! Becoming parents put a new perspective on everything; they started to make more conscious decisions around sustainability, switching out chemicals for gentle options and using cloth nappies.

6 |           It soon became time to look at care options for Samuel but they couldn’t find exactly what they were after. This was the push they needed to make their dreams a reality.

7 |           They wanted a name which reflected their vision for a small, nature-rich and nurturing space that would feel unhurried and peaceful; ‘Nest’ seemed like the perfect fit. They soon found an amazing property in the heart of Edgecumbe and got to work on building a Nest.
