Part one | Upon returning to the Eastern Bay, Liane & Mike started their married lives together and welcomed their son Samuel into their family. It soon became time to look at care options for Samuel but they couldn’t find exactly what they were after. This was the push they needed to make their dreams a reality.
The Journey to Nest
Part Two |They wanted a name which reflected their vision for a small, nature-rich and nurturing space that would feel unhurried and peaceful; ‘Nest’ seemed like the perfect fit. They soon found an amazing property in the heart of Edgecumbe and got to work on building a Nest.
Building our Nest
In May 2019 a digger pulled into our empty section to kick off the start of our build and begin transforming our patch of direct into a beautiful Nest Over the next 7 months Nest blossomed – from earthworks, framing, landscapers, painters, and tilers – Nest transformed before our eyes.
Making the Nest home
Part one | Our incredible team of kaiako started with us in January 2020 and we received our licence from the Ministry of Education in February 2020 which allowed our families to begin their own journey alongside us.

Part two | Since the opening of Nest in 2020 we have since welcomed our daughter to our family. We are truly blessed to have been able to bring this vision into a reality, sharing our Nest with the community.
